Hey everyone, I would appreciate it if you would check out my webcomic, Bottoms Up. It is a single-panel comic that I update every Monday and Friday covering such exciting topics as your crappy life, idiot boss, and bad relationships.
As a single-panel comic creator, I have found it difficult to find many pre-existing website designs that do a good job with a single panel layout. Any thoughts/good examples in that area would be appreciated.
I think your artwork has the sense of traditional cartoon style, it´s has certain "professional" look. In a way it also reminds me of some older artwork seen on Mad magazine (which is -obviously- a good thing) You seem to be aware of your strengths and limits and you handle things overall very well.
Your ideas are good and "working ones" and your humour is nicely "dark" - personally I would probably like to see it adjusted even darker but most likely that´s just dark enough for most people. So, overall things are looking good!
Hopefully someone here can help you out with website designs - those things aren´t unfortunately my cup of tea.
Thanks for the very positive review of Bottoms Up. I appreciate the Mad Magazine reference...I'm flattered.
In terms of the dark humor, that's always been a question for me with this comic. My humor is naturally dark, but I'm trying not to go overboard with it. That being said, based on the traffic on my site, I'd say that the panels that are "darker" (like one involving a dog, peanut butter, and nipples) seem to do better than the "lighter" ones...
I'd sure like to know what others think as well. Check out Bottoms Up for yourself.
Your comic looks good! I agree with T's Kingdom that it's reminiscent of old Mad Magazine, but that is by no means a bad thing. I dig your sense of humor, I'm definitely bookmarking it for regular reading.
As far as website layout, give Panel Flow a try. It's a nice, smooth, flash based comic management system. Right now it's in the "host here" stage, but very soon will be available to download and install on your own server.
Great to hear that you like the comic. I'll have to dig out my old copies of Mad Magazine to see what you and T's Kingdom see as the similarities. But hey, people actually paid good money to read Mad Magazine, so I will take that as a compliment. Also, I will definitely check out Panel Flow. Thanks for the tip.
Since my last entry here I have gone to a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule and I have just redesigned the site to better showcase the comic. I thought the old design was "crowding" the comic too much. Please let me know what you think--about the comic and the site.
Don't know what the old layout looked like but liking the new one. Love the line and shading work on your stuff.
I see you have links to social bookmarking sites but no indication of whether you have accounts there. (ie facebook, twitter) so people can follow you via those means.
